A gravity gun may be a sort of device in video games, particularly first-person shooters using physics engines, whereby players can directly manipulate objects within the world, often allowing them to be used as projectiles against hostile characters. The concept was popularized by the gravity gun found in Valve's Half-Life 2, also because the Temporal Uplink found in radical Design's TimeSplitters: Future Perfect; although an identical concept was employed by id Software during the assembly of the sooner game Doom 3, eventually resulting in the introduction of a physics-based weapon within the expansion pack Resurrection of Evil. Later games, like Portal, BioShock, Crysis, and Dead Space, are influenced by the success of those physics-based weapons, adopting their own sorts of comparable abilities or weapons.
